Project description

Projects 8200,8202,8204,8206-8209,8214-8220

Cause: cancer

These projects involve simulating MCL1, a protein that controls apoptosis. Apoptosis is a mechanism of controlled cell death and is tightly regulated by normal cells and often suppressed in cancer cells. The ability to induce apoptosis in cancer cells is the subject of intense research in cancer therapeutics. To this end, these projects simulate MCL1 with the proteins it normally binds in the cell. These simulations will allow us a better understanding of the structural dynamics of these complexes and provide insight into targeting them.
